Legacy Planning: The 1827 Society

For where your treasure is there will your heart be also. — Matthew 6:21

Since its inception in 1827, St. Paul’s Episcopal has been blessed by the tremendous generosity of its parishioners. Recognizing the solemnity and importance of giving to the works of St. Paul’s, the 1827 Society was established to enable parishioners to include our church in estate planning. Doing so is both a privilege and a long-lasting blessing.

Planned giving isn’t just financial support, it’s a powerful expression of faith and gratitude. These gifts make a meaningful impact on our ministry and mission, helping our church grow vibrant programs, strengthen community outreach, and sustain pastoral care for generations to come.

Your Gift Makes a Difference

Through wills, trusts, annuities, insurance and other forms of planned giving, parishioners’ planned gifts advance our mission to spread God’s love and make a lasting impact on our community. Every bequest, whether a specific dollar amount, a percentage of your assets, or the residual estate, represents a powerful testament of faith and gratitude, leaving an indelible mark on the journey of our parish.

Here Are Some Options:

Making a bequest to St. Paul’s in  your will or trust

A straightforward option, requiring only a few keystrokes by your attorney to include St. Paul’s.

Naming St. Paul’s as a beneficiary of an IRA, retirement plan or insurance policy

Also a simple option and one that can be accomplished by completing designated beneficiary forms easily available from your broker or financial advisor.

Creating a Charitable Lead Trust

A way to direct income to St. Paul’s for a designated period of ten to fifteen hears, after which the remaining corpus goes to your heirs or any designated beneficiary.

Establishing a Charitable Remainder Trust

An option that can give you predictable income during your lifetime, with the balance going to St. Paul’s at your passing.

Join the 1827 Society

Becoming part of the 1827 Society is a meaningful way to express your gratitude for the spiritual home and community St. Paul’s has been in your life. It’s not only about what we receive, it’s about planting seeds of faith so others may be blessed in the years ahead.

There are any number of nuances and variations that can be appended to these planned giving strategies. Your financial advisor or attorney can lead you through them.
